Easter Holiday Camp

Our Easter Holiday Camp kicked off in the first week of the school break, and what a fantastic start it was! We were delighted to open our doors and welcome up to 30 young people each day, all ready to enjoy four hours packed with fun, creativity, and new experiences.

Each day offered a great balance of activities designed to keep everyone engaged and active. Cooking and baking remained a highlight throughout the week, giving young people the chance to get hands-on in the kitchen. Working alongside our youth workers, they helped prepare lunch, learned new skills, and gained confidence in making healthy, tasty meals.

Our multi-sports court was buzzing with energy every day, with football and dodgeball proving to be firm favourites. Whether it was friendly competition or just having fun with friends, the sports sessions were a big hit and a great way for everyone to stay active.

We were also thrilled to welcome jewellery artist Loucinda Nims from The Metal Shed Workshop, who delivered a fantastic hands-on craft session for our youth members. Using recycled drink cans, the young people got creative making their own unique jewellery and even crafted some imaginative little metal bugs. It was a brilliant opportunity to try something new, learn creative skills, and think about recycling in a fun and engaging way. A huge thank you to Arts for Hungerford for funding this activity and for supporting our young people throughout the session.

To round off an already brilliant week, the group enjoyed a special trip to Hungerford Leisure Centre on Thursday. The swimming session was the perfect way to unwind, with lots of laughter and excitement as everyone cooled off in the pool.

We’re also proud to offer free holiday club places for children and young people who are eligible for free school meals. These places are funded through the government’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, delivered locally across West Berkshire.

The HAF programme plays an important role in supporting children and young people during the school holidays. It aims to encourage healthier eating, increase physical activity, and build a better understanding of nutrition. Just as importantly, it helps young people stay connected, engaged, and supported within their local community.

We’re incredibly grateful to be part of this initiative and to provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can learn, grow, and have fun during the holidays.

We’re excited to share that we’ll be back again in the Summer with even more activity days, giving young people another opportunity to get involved, try new things, and make great memories together. Stay tuned for more details!
